Hospitality Health in collaboration with HIT Scotland are delighted to be able to offer a selection of fully funded mental health and wellbeing training courses for staff within the hospitality and tourism industry. This range of courses will provide Managers with the tools to support employees, improve their mental wellbeing, and ensure they feel supported as the industry bounces back.
The courses are funded through the Tourism Recovery Fund and supported by Skills Development Scotland.
The courses provide opportunities at a variety of levels and include the following:
- Training of staff to deliver ‘In house training’ of Mental Health First Aiders
- Certificated training for staff to become Mental Health First Aiders
- Certificated training for staff to have awareness in wellbeing and mental health issues
- Training for staff to have awareness of resilience techniques
- Training and information for businesses to demonstrate how the culture can change the wellbeing of employees for the better, thereby increasing retention and reducing recruitment
Applications will open on Monday 24th January 2022, closing on Sunday 6th February 2022. There are only a limited number of places available on each of the programmes, so the advice is to apply right away.
Gordon McIntyre, Chairman of Hospitality Health commented: “What a fantastic opportunity for the industry. Without the funding support from the Tourism Recovery Fund we would not be able to offer this. It will have a huge impact on the wellbeing and mental fitness of the staff within the hospitality and tourism industries and should have a lasting impact.”
David Cochrane, CEO of HIT Scotland said: “It is the people within the industry who will drive the recovery of the industry. Therefore, the wellbeing of individuals across the sector is paramount. This suite of development will enable many businesses to improve their knowledge in this area, and build up a culture of resilience and support for their teams for the long term.”
The Mental Health & Wellbeing programme follows on from a very successful Tourism & Hospitality Development Programme which was managed by HIT Scotland, where more than 2000 employees within the industry gained inspirational supervisory, management and leadership skills.
